Wrigley (Y863), Age 10 years and 0 months
Wrigley, who also goes by the name Bob, is a handsome gentleman, approx. 10 years of age. Wrigley came to us from the shelter after his family took him there when they could no longer care for him. He's a good ol' boy, still active, but loves to find a comfortable spot on the couch. He rides well in the car and accepts any new adventure that comes his way. When he's feeling a bit insecure he'll suck on his own ear like a pacifier to comfort himself. It's a sweet, but sad, sight. If you just give him some love and carasses he'll forget all about the ear and savor the attention you give him. At a weight of 70 lbs, Wrigley is muscular--not fat. He'd do well as an only dog or with another compatible dog. We don't know yet how he'd be in a relationship with a cat. So far, he's not much of a player--but that could change once he feels secure in his new home and opens up. Older children would probably be okay for Wrigley--younger kids might be a bit too rambunctious for his stoic ways. This majestic red and white boy is waiting to be loved and adopted. He needs a foster home in the meantime. His adoption fee will be $150.

Lucy and Bandit (Y860), Age 10 years and 3 months
Lucy (#859) and her best friend, Bandit (#860) are a bonded pair who wish to remain together in a new home. Although 10 years old, this couple is still pretty lively and have a lot of love to give. They ride well in the car, walk well on a leash and are just happy to have a spot to hang out. We have them featured on our home page because they need a foster home ASAP. Better yet--an adoptive home. Lucy and Bandit found themselves homeless when their previous owner went into an assisted living and relatives dropped this pair at the shelter. We don't know who the owner was, but we wish would could assure him or her that their beloved Bassets are being cared for by LVBR. Lucy and Bandit now need a little assisted living themselves--but don't require much. A soft dog bed to share, a little food, and some companionship from humans who appreciate them in their golden years. They are quiet and accepting of whatever life brings them. Let's make sure they have a what we all hope to have as we age.....a secure home with people who us. Their senior pair adoption fee will be $150. Fill out the online application if you are interested in meeting this lovely pair of hounds.

Jackpot (Y862), Age 0 years and 10 months
If there was a place in the Guiness Book of World Records for the tallest basset hound, our newest red and white boy, Jackpot, just might get the honor. Tall and gangly, and as silly as any 9 month old hound can be, Jackpot will need plenty of exercise and play time while he is still maturing into the fantastic dog we know he will be. For the more active folks who think a short-legged hound might hold them back, Jackpot is your boy! And, for the folks who are looking for a younger dog, even if you aren't that active, if you have another young dog who needs a companion, and the patience to give Jackpot the guidance he needs, we think you will be rewarded with a loving, faithful companion. If Jackpot looks like he would make a nice addiiton to your home, or if you would like to foster Jackpot until he finds his forever home, please fill out an online application. Jackpot's adoption fee will be $250.

Lucy & Bandit--Forever Friends
April 11, 2012
Look at these sweet faces. Do you notice how they sit together, touching one another? They love & depend on each other. Meet bonded pair Lucy (darker coloring) and Bandit. When their owner went into assisted living, relatives dropped Lucy & Bandit at the high-kill shelter, where they surely would have been euthanized due to their age. LVBR would not let that happen. After all—being a little older should not warrant a death sentence. If it did—many of us would be in serious trouble. Lucy and Bandit still have sage advice to hand out to the many young whippersnapper Bassets out there!
Lucy and Bandit are about 10 years old—but they still have a spring in their step and can get jiggy with it. In good health and just had dentals. They get along famously with other friendly dogs and cats. They curl up together on the same bed to sleep. Lucy & Bandit wish for a foster home (or adoptive home) where they can remain together. Very well-behaved, quiet, loving souls. Can you provide a spot for Grandma and Grandpa Basset? We can even provide food and beds if needed. You just add LOVE!
P.S. For those who wish to view the pictures of the Bassets marching in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, please go to www.darlenecarr.kodakgallery.com to view the online photo album. You’ll have to cut & paste that address into your web browser—sorry, having problems getting a link embedded. Thanks!
